Petition Action

Michael Gove limit commercial dog imports to 5 per vehicle or require titer test

Petition Details

In light of the number of illegal rescue dogs entering the UK from "high risk" countries, the government should enact a quick & easy solution to this problem. Limit dogs coming in on TRACES to 5 dogs per vehicle, this removes the profit element for those involved or insist on rabies titer results

Additional Information

There is evidence of illegal dogs entering from Serbia, Bosnia, Ukraine, Bulgaria & Romania. Serbia and Ukraine are high risk countries. Proof is available of transporters, vets & officials involved in supplying dogs from all the aforementioned countries with Romanian passports & chips so as to travel on Romanian TRACES. Many are not vaccinated. This is illegal and a potential danger to our countries pets, people and wildlife - rabies and echinococcus. Cross border transport S. Klevar PHD et all

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
