Petition Action

Reduce the amount of time to reside in the UK before applying for ILR.

Petition Details

I am married to a British wife and we have a daughter together and I will have to wait 10 years before I can apply for ILR. Every 2.5 years I have to renew my visa which is time consuming and expensive.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you'd like the time that someone has to live in the UK before they qualify for ILR to be reduced, but we're not sure how much you'd like it to be reduced by.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
