Petition Action

Stop companies giving out loans to those on low to no income.

Petition Details

It is easy for anyone to obtain a loan however once a loan has been obtained they should be automatically denied any further loans. A strict credit and background check should be done on all individuals applying for a loan to prevent uncontrollable debt.

Additional Information

Too many people take out loans and struggle with the monthly payments then decide to take further loans out to help however end up digging a hole for themselves. People with low to no income are managing to obtain loans. £3’000 should be the maximum amount allowed to obtain as long as that individual has a minimum annual income of £16’000+ This serious issue that young people face today has major impacts on themselves and our economy. This has to be resolved immediately.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the UK Government or Parliament to do. Loan companies themselves decide who to give loans to.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, you could start a new petition asking the Government and Parliament to introduce a duty on the Government to take steps to reduce household debt from loans, if that's what you would like to happen.
