Petition Details

Victims have corrosive chemicals thrown at them resulting in; excruciating pain with severe flesh burns, disfiguration of face and body, additionally devastating effects on mental health.
It’s not fair that anybody has to go through this for whatever reason, a law must be there to protect all.

Additional Information

To think that this is becoming a rising devastation in the UK is not only worrying but unacceptable, for a nation that is meant to be powerful, that should be an example to other countries, is not being able to provide safety for citizens just walking on the streets. No laws have been stricken in regards to the usage of acid, in fact it has been weakened, making it easier for criminals to destroy lives within moments.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We understand that you're concerned about the sale of acids, but we're not sure exactly what you mean by "Make the purchase of highly acidic products over the counter a criminal offence". We're not sure exactly how you'd like the sale of highly acidic products to be regulated, or how you would like acidic products to be sold to people who have a legitimate use for them.
