Decisions about releasing prisoners into the community are taken by the Parole Board, which is independent of Parliament and Government. You can find out more about the Parole Board here:

In January 2018, the Secretary of State for Justice announced a review into the law, policy and procedure relating to Parole Board decisions. You can find out more here:

You could start a new petition asking the UK Government and Parliament to make a specific change to how the Parole Board makes decisions, if that's what you'd like to happen.
