Require dog friendly or dog accessible stiles on every public footpath
The law doesn’t require stiles to be ‘dog friendly’ as it’s the dog’s keeper who has the right of passage.
A dog is a natural accompaniment to walkers which is recognised by land owners/ councils when signs such as ‘dog on leash’ are used but dogs are not accommodated when it comes to stiles.
How many dog owners have had to carry their 5stone plus dog over a stile??? We need this change in the law as we are being encouraged to get out into the countryside and see more of our beautiful country
