Petition Action

Recognisation by the Government of the Wrongful Prohibition of Cannabis.

Petition Details

This is not just a petition for the legalisation of a substance with, now proven, wide ranging applications to human wellbeing. But a demand for recognition by the Government that the plant was originally made illegal on a comparatively ill-informed basis when considering what is understood today.

Additional Information

Not only is the Hemp plant one of the most versatile crops once heavily relied on by the British Government for its naval and textile applications and grown in every single county in the UK, the higher potency Cannabis Sativa crop is now known to treat a wide range of medical conditions. Moreover with legalisation of this plant in Canada citizens should begin to ask: “if this is legal in one of the Queen’s sovereign territories; why not in her homeland?”

This is wrongful prohibition.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

If you'd like the UK Government and Parliament to change the law around cannabis, you might like to sign one of these petitions:

petition.parliament.uk/petitions?q=cannabis

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
