Abandon proposals to abolish council tax discounts on second homes.
This government should abandon its arbitrary and autocratic proposal to remove council tax discounts and exemptions for second homes, or empty residential properties, when it has failed to recognise there are those whose circumstances mean they have had to move to a second home but have been unable to dispose of their first home due to the destruction of the housing market caused by:-
a) a banking system this government has failed to regulate;
b) a banking system this government has failed to ensure offers sensible but accessible mortgages;
c) the government's mass destruction of public sector jobs, on the promise of private sector replacements which have not materialised and which has created insecurity and a lack of hope across the workforce.
