Most of East Reading has local 20 mph speed limits, particularly outside schools and in residential streets. With out enforcement the majority of traffic and drivers fail to comply with the limit. Without additional funding most police forces cannot prioritise the 20 mph speed limits
FOI requests to TVP show how little enforcement has been carried out.
Anecdotal observation indicates as much as 80% of drivers are ignoring the limits with a few injury accidents having vehicle speed as an underlying cause.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. Speeding is a criminal offence and enforcement is the responsibility of the police.
