Petition Details

Thousands of people are wrongfully convicted each year but legal costs make it impossible for these people to appeal leaving many convicted of a crime that they did not commit

Additional Information

My father was convicted of a crime that he did not commit but as a family that is earning basic salaries my father has been denied the chance to appeal

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We understand that you're concerned about the cost of appealing a conviction, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

If you'd like changes to the rules on who is eligible for Legal Aid, you could start a new petition about that.
