To call on the Government to introduce rules that require the disclosure of lobbying activities.
We the electorate have a right to know on whose behalf lobbyists are working, how much money is involved, and the areas of policy they seek to influence. The power and influence of Lobbyists is much more pervasive than many realise. Lobbying companies are adept at finding ingenious ways to disguise the role of their clients which is why disclosure is so important.
We call on the government to introduce:
A public mandatory register of lobbyists, with financial disclosure.
An enforceable set of ethical rules and guidelines for all lobbyists.
Enhanced rules on the ethical conduct of politicians and public officials
Halt all undisclosed privileged access to decision makers.
Elected officials should work in the interest of the electorate, and transparency of the lobbying system is essential for an open democratic system and to ensure that the citizens always remain paramount.
