Cuts to Road Maintenance? We'll cut paying Road Tax!
Since the Department for Transport is planning to cut £2 billion on spending which will cost the motorist £3 Billion, I believe the Government should get rid of Road Tax since we are not getting the service Road Tax pays for, which is Road Maintenance and that gives the Tax payer money to spend on gas, electricity and food. The basics to survive which are already rising as it is and millions are struggling.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
There is no such thing as 'road tax'; vehicle owners pay Vehicle Excise Duty, which goes along with other taxes to paying for the whole range of government expenditure. There has been no separate Road Fund, to pay for building and maintaining roads, since 1937.
