Petition Action

Continue to allow phones in school.

Petition Details

The government is about to pass a law banning phones in school. This is wrong and unnecessary, as most schools already have policies regarding mobile phone usage.

Additional Information

Phones can be used to look up extra work and participate in inter-class competitions, such as Kahoot or Dr Frost Maths.
Without phones, the school has to contact every parent if something happens at school regarding all the students.
Finally, phones can be used to source relaxing music and help students to focus on their work and not other noises in the classroom.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We're not aware of any plans for a law banning phones in school. The Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport has encouraged schools to ban phones during the school day, but it's a decision for schools to make.

You could start a new petition calling on the Government to reject any calls to pass a law banning phones in schools, if that's what you want to happen.
