Make government step in to take responsibility for back pay owed to care workers
Uk care workers are now to be denied back pay which they had previously been told they were legally entitled to by law. This underpayment came about through the governments failing to give clear guidance to care providers, which in turn led to the underpaying and exploitation of workers.
Mencap who appealed the ruling for financial reasons have in their own words previously acknowledged the back pay owed but feel the government should be liable

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. The Government can't change the decision that the Court of Appeal has reached, but Parliament could change the law.
You could start a new petition asking for the law to be changed, so that sleep in carers are legally entitled to be paid the minimum wage, if that's what you'd like to happen.
