Improve the Mental health system in the UK
I’m a former patient at a mental health hospital. I know from experience that the UK is struggling to cope with new patients because fewer beds are being provided and staff don’t have the right training. Government funding must match need. The Government must report on how much it would cost to
treat every person with a mental health problem with the treatment recommended by NICE. Funding should then be based on how much it really costs to care for mental health patients and to train every member of NHS staff who will come into contact with people with mental health problems. No one should be scared to come out as suffering from a mental health problem. Low funding is the problem, not sick people.”
