Scrap the flawed BMI scale for assessing people’s ‘healthy weight’
I’m calling for a review on the current BMI scale that we use in the UK to determine if people are obese, overweight, healthy or underweight. This scale does not take into consideration muscle mass, bone density or water retention and often causes panic amongst the healthy.
Here is an example of this scale is wrongly causing panic amongst parents of primary school children.

It would make more sense for the obesity rate to be determined by body fat percentage instead.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We're not sure whether you'd like the use of BMI to be scrapped completely, or reviewed.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
