Make putting Orca Whales in captivity a criminal offence

Petition Details

Orca Whales in the wild swim upto 100 miles per day and have their own feeding sources, which contributes to the life cycle. Putting them in captivity not only reduces their swimming area, but interrupts the life cycle and their health could be effected.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. As far as we know, there aren't any orcas in captivity in the UK.

We think you might be concerned about orcas in captivity in other countries. The UK Parliament can only make laws that affect the UK.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, you could ask the UK Government to raise this issue with the governments of countries where orcas are kept in captivity.
