Petition Action

Introduce a fair housing rental system, for tenants, landlords, and authorities.

Petition Details

Landlords have a RIGHT to have property returned in a state of reasonable wear & tear; and a RESPONSIBILITY to maintain it in working order.
Tenants have a RIGHT to use benefits to pay rent, to live with their children and pets; and a RESPONSIBILITY to replace what they damage through carelessness.

Additional Information

The needy and infirm need homes.
There aren’t enough council properties.
Most landlords charge far more than the housing benefit, refuse those receiving benefits and charge for a credit check/means test that disqualifies the applicant.
Fair landlords struggle to make a profit that covers their risks.
Both are currently being ripped off by banks, businesses or authorities, resulting in the needy and infirm suffering the end loss.

Not everyone who is homeless is there because of their own faults.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do to create a fairer housing system.
