Redefine the term ‘majority’ in regards to referendums as a minimum of 65%.
52% is NOT majority; this means that the will of a significant portion of the population goes unheeded. The government needs to redefine the term 'majority' in a referendum to 65% minimum.
In other countries, such as the US, a major change to the constitution requires two-thirds majority in both the Senate and House of Representatives. The fact that in the UK a result of just over 50% can constitute a major change can and has led to major social divisions within the country whilst also meaning that the will of a significant portion of the population goes unheeded. This makes the country vulnerable to disinformation.
