Launch an inquiry into Islamophobia in the Conservative Party

Petition Details

We urge the Conservative Party Chairman to launch an immediate inquiry into Islamophobia within the Conservative Party, with a view to including protections specifically against Islamophobia in the Members’ Code of Conduct.

Additional Information

In his piece in the Telegraph (5 August 2018), Johnson describes women who wear the Burka as resembling “letter boxes” and “bank robbers” and stated that he would ask Muslim women from his constituency to “remove it” so that he could “talk to [them] properly”. Examples of Islamophobia within the Conservative Party are numerous and have been well documented by the Muslim Council of Britain in their public call for an inquiry into Islamophobia within the party.
