Bring Donald Campbell's Bluebird K7 to run on Coniston Water once again
On 4th January 1967 Donald Campbell CBE died during a water speed record attempt at Consiton Water when his craft Bluebird K7 tragically somersaulted at speed in excess of 300mph. He was and still is the only person to set both world land and water speed records in the same year (1964)
The wreckage of Bluebird was recovered between October 2000 and May 2001, when Donald Campbell's body was also recovered. He is laid to rest in Coniston.
Bluebird has been lovingly restored and we now need the Lake District National Park Authority, South Lakeland District Council and Coniston Parish Council to allow her to return to her spiritual home and run once again on Coniston Water.
