Amend the Official Secrets Act to prevent its use in cases of child abuse.
The Official Secrets Act may have deterred people from whistleblowing on paedophiles in positions of power. This is contrary to the public interest. We call on the Government to amend the Act to ensure that it can’t happen again.
There seem to have been moves to cover up cases of child abuse in order to protect people in power from accusations. This is evidenced by the Interview former chief whip Tim Fortescue gave to Panorama in 1995.
