Fat Tax
Why not kill three birds with one stone, increasing the health of the population, saving money for the NHS and raising additional tax to reduce the deficit ?
Vast amounts of money are spent on fizzy drinks, biscuits,sweets, crisps and similar snacks and unhealthy processed foods. None of these items are of nutritional value and are expensive, fattening , unhealthy luxuries. Instead of 3p on a litre of fuel, which helps to drive economic growth, please tax these items heavily instead. This will hurt no-one !
