Considering median employee earnings in directors' bonus awards
I wish goverment to reform corporate governance codes to encourage companies to consider employment levels and median employee earnings when awarding long term incentive packages to directors.
Whilst s172 of the Companies Act requires the directors to consider the interests of the company; they are to have regard to the employees.
This would be a much fairer compromise as it will prevent the need to tax directors on their bonuses but will encourage them to create more jobs for the benefit of the economy.
