Petition Action

Update the highways act to include allowance for electric scooter use on roads.

Petition Details

Certain (very limited) electric scooters, power-boards e.t.c can be allowed on public roads. Provided that the rider has passed a CBT license & that fee of roughly £50 is charged for tax.
Obviously scooters have zero emissions & their use should be encouraged as a non fossil fuel alternative.

Additional Information

Cyclists are allowed on public roads, as they should be!
It's not the same for many e-scooter riders who are competent to use the roads with their choice of vehicle.
E-scooters are an effective, quiet, safe transport solution for many people who wish to limit emissions & enjoy the freedom afforded.
criminalising these people is unnecessary & in fact immoral when considering the fact that vehicle emissions contribute massively to health negative health issues.
A 200 year old act is outdated!
