Protect a child's right to a relationship with their parent and extended family.
No law gives parents the right to see their child if a relationship ends. Changes to legislation and Court practices are required to stop coercive and controlling behaviours that lead to unnecessary severance of family relationships and the emotional harm suffered by children/families as a result.
1 million+ children don’t have contact with one of their parents in the UK. About 45,000 applications for contact are made to Courts each year involving about 85,000 children. Cases take years to resolve causing unnecessary emotional harm. The worst affected are psychologically manipulated to sever all ties with a parent and other family members. It impacts a child’s mental health, prospects and future relationships. Mothers and fathers are at risk of being alienated. It happens to good parents.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you're concerned about parents being able to maintain a relationship with their children, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
