Offer a catchup HPV vaccine programme to women aged 18-26 on the NHS
- Many women missed the HPV vaccine while at school due to parental abstention or missed appointments.
- The HPV vaccine is currently only available to women on the NHS up until age 18
- The vaccine retails at £450 at high-street pharmacies - utterly unaffordable for most.
NHS vaccine guidelines - https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/hpv-human-papillomavirus-vaccine/
3100 cases of cervical cancer are diagnosed in the UK each year - almost ALL are related to HPV - https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/cervical-cancer
It's utterly unacceptable that girls and women who were opted out by their parents while at school are unable to catch up when they hit the age of medical consent. Providing the vaccine as a catchup will save lives, and save NHS money.
