Exempt animals purchased from a rescue centre from VAT on vets bills
To discourage unnecessary breeding of animals which are over represented in rescue centres, I am asking that any animal purchased from a rescue centre should be exempt from the 20% VAT on vets’s bills and a corresponding reduction in their insurance premium.
This would encourage people to buy from rescue centres and discourage the breeding purely for money of those breeds which are over represented in rescue centres.
Owners would register proof of purchase from a recognised rescue centre with their vet and have their record marked as exempt from VAT.
