The death penalty should be brought back to the UK in order to reduce crimes.
The death penalty was originally a hanging punishment in 400 ad in Anglo-Saxon Britain and was abolished in 1965. In 2016 the top five execution countries were China, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Iraq. The penalty should be brought back to reduce the regular occurrence of serious crime, murder.
As of when the penalty was used murder, espionage of a member of the armed forces, kidnap and trafficking were punishable by the penalty. A survey we conducted showed that 16/50 people thought treason was punished by the penalty; whereas 22/50 people thought rape should be punished by the death penalty. A majority said that hanging should be used to kill people. However, there are alternative methods such as lethal injection or gas. Also, kidnap and murder may become crimes punished by the penalty
