Make taxi fare dodging a criminal offence and not a civil matter.
As a taxi driver providing transport service to the public, we face endless fare dodgers with no police support. The police say it's a 'civil matter'. If someone filled up their vehicle with fuel and drove off, the response from the police is immediate. Why isn't that applied to other thefts?
We are told by the police to take money upfront. Do shops & fuel stations ask for money upfront before you purchase? No!! So why should taxi drivers be treated differently to theft offenses? The lack of police support against taxi fare dodgers allows criminals to continue as they know nothing will be done about it. Even Transport for London have their own police force.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
Depending on the circumstances, someone not paying a taxi fare might be considered theft or fraud, so we're not sure exactly what else you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
You can find out how to contact the police here:

You can find out how to make a complaint about the police here:
www.policeconduct.gov.uk/complaints-and-appeals/make-complaint
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
