END 28MPH RESTRICTION ON 50CC MOPEDS ON SAFETY GROUNDS

Petition Details

Factory restricted 50cc mopeds are dangerous, because you are unable to pull away from dangerous situations quickly. Too many people are getting injured due to accidents that can be cut out. This is backed up by the Motorcycle Legal Foundation.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

The law doesn't restrict the speed of mopeds, so we're not sure what action you'd like Government or Parliament to take. The law defines mopeds as vehicles that are designed to have a maximum speed of 28 miles per hour. A vehicle that goes faster than 28 mph is defined as a motorbike.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, you could start a new petition asking for a minimum legal speed for vehicles on the roads, if that's what you'd like to happen.
