Require sanctions for breaches of the Ministerial Code

Petition Details

Ministers breaking the ministerial code result in a report describing the breach - action may not be taken. The code should be given some force e.g. minor technical breach - an apology to Parliament: Deliberate major breach - a lifetime ban on being a Minister.

Additional Information

In cases where it is found there has been a deliberate major breach, the individual, and any other who behaved similarly, could not be relied upon to abide by the code in future and would therefore be unfit to be a Minister. A right of appeal to a court should exist in the event of such a sanction.
