Please fix the car insurance system and outrageous premiums or make it optional
Car insurance should be based on the value of a car and not other factors, otherwise why is it called car insurance?
Millions of mostly young drivers under 30 are paying several hundreds if not thousands of pounds just to be able to drive their car for one year - often more than the car is worth.
Why should any driver pay more if not multiple times more than the car is actually worth. Who has that kind of money to throw away?
Car insurance should be more for a driver in their 40s with a £30K+ car than someone in their 20s with a £1k+ car. Currently, many young drivers could replace their own car with the premiums they are paying.
Please fix the system;
1. Either make it based on X% (i.e.10%) value of a car
2. Make it optional
3. Or enforce X% refunds at the end of the year if no claims

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, you could start a new petition asking the UK Government and Parliament to change the law to ensure that car insurance is based on the value of a car rather than other factors such as age, if that's what you'd like to happen.
