Make Michaelmas Day (29th September) a public holiday.
Michaelmas (Mickle-mas) was The Feast of St Michael and was used to celebrate the final harvest. Everything that couldn't be preserved was eaten in a great feast.
This holiday would be a dress rehearsal for Christmas, minus the relatives and presents!
