Urge Bank of England to return to traditional 'paper' banknotes

Petition Details

Keep existing 'paper* £20 & £50 and recall existing polymer notes. The public prefer beautiful 'paper' banknotes.

Additional Information

*Paper money: Traditionally manufactured textile-mix notes of folding currency; such as the US Dollar (75% cotton 25% linen). {as compared to polymer i.e. plastic notes - introduced to UK circulation Sep' 2016}

Polymer banknotes are not worthy of the dignity of a national currency.
Slippery to the touch and handle.
Prone to flying out of control, e.g. from wallet or the hand.
Unpredictably stick together.
Will not fold or stay folded, to store easily in
wallets/pockets etc.
Don't sit securely within cash-till draws.
Difficult to count up - on a table the notes will not stack up, they slide away in disorder and bounce about.
Alternative security features are available to make 'paper'-notes as secure.
