Petitions were intended as an extension of democracy. TV election debates are a petition being sponsored by a commercial interest (SKY).
Many SKY news programs, and "Hard Politics" include plugs for the petition for TV leaders' debates.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We are not sure what you mean by "sponsored by a commercial interest". Our rules already require petitions to be submitted by named individuals, not organisations.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
