Petition Action

Take action against housing developers providing low quality new build homes.

Petition Details

Large housing developers such as Persimmon homes are providing low quailty, defective houses that are too small under the helptobuy scheme. The government needs to take action and provided more protection to these buyers, and new laws that mean developers cannot build and handover defective housing.

Additional Information

I brought a new build property in 2016 with a warranty with Persimmon homes under the help to buy scheme and forces help to buy. The developer has handed over a defective, small, low quailty home. They will not honour the warranty and fix the defects. The NHBC only covers a selection of things that is outlined on there website. I have photos emails and letters I have sent to the mangers and none of the defects get sorted out. Helptobuy schemes are helping developers and not me.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. In particular, we're not sure what you mean by "take action" or what protections you would like to see.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. If you want the Government to set up a new homes ombudsman to address serious failings in the building sector, you may wish to sign this petition instead: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/229203
