Give taxi drivers more protection on the streets.
My brother-in-law is a taxi driver and has been attacked whilst working on more than 5 occasions, he has had his car damaged more than once, but the police do not take the matter seriously. There is not enough protection on the streets whilst taxi drivers are trying to earn a living.
The police have been called almost every occasion, but told there are not enough police officers to be patrolling the area. He has been punched by lads, slapped and scratched by girls, had his taxi damaged but never taken seriously. My brother-in-law should be safe at night doing his job, he shouldn't be going to work worrying if he will make it home to his kids. Please sign this petition in the hope that something changes to ensure our taxi drivers/family members are safe.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're sorry to hear about what happened to your brother-in-law.
We understand that you would like more protection for taxi drivers, but we are not sure what specific action you would like Government or Parliament to take.
In any case, local policing is the responsibility of the local Police and Crime Commissioner.
You could raise this issue with your local Police and Crime Commissioner, who is elected. You can find them using the following website:
http://www.apccs.police.uk/find-your-pcc/
You could also start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
