Lower £50000 low-skilled workers policy to be realistic of real skilled salaries

Petition Details

The proposal by Theresa May to end free movement for EU nationals, and only those who earn £50,000pa+ to be regarded as skilled workers will be devastating. There are so many skilled, and in fact, vital jobs that fall below this ridiculous threshold, from healthcare to research.

Additional Information

This has high potential to be an official policy that is intended to put in place in the near future. References:

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. In particular, we're not sure whether you want the income threshold for all skilled workers to be reduced, or whether you want a lower skilled workers threshold introduced just for EU nationals.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
