Petition Action

Ban politicians from using social media.

Petition Details

Social media is destructive to society and gives politicians a blinkered view of issues. It is therefore not good for society for politicians to use social media.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you are concerned about the impact of social media, but we are not sure what you would like the UK Government or Parliament to do about it. In particular, we are not sure who the ban would apply to and whether it would apply all the time or only, for example, whilst a politician holds an elected office.

You could start a new petition setting out clearly what action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take.
