Climate change should have a mandatory headline & link on news websites
Climate change can never be old news.
Every middle to top-tier news, current affairs or entertainment site should have a periodic headline focused on climate change, or the need to challenge it.
On October 8th, 2018, many news sites carried a story from the IPCC explaining the catastrophic consequences facing Earth if climate change is not challenged.
Tomorrow, this news story will be gone and replaced by a wealth of new and relevant stories, but a lot of non-entities too.
This petition challenges the UK Government to implement a mandatory news headline policy on the landing pages of many news, current affairs, sports and entertainment sites as a bid to raise awareness of what is now a permanent threat.
Press releases, fact sheets, scientific articles could all be used to draw source information to keep the issue current, relevant and to raise awareness.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We cannot accept petitions about matters which are not the responsibility of Government or Parliament.
The Government and Parliament are not responsible for headlines chosen by news websites.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you'd like the Government and Parliament to do. For example, you could start a new petition asking the Government to fund an awareness campaign about climate change, including advertising on news websites, if that's what you'd like to happen.
