Allow commuters to reclaim compensation from striking unions.

Petition Details

There is nothing more inconvenient than public services going on strike for all manor of reasons.

This petition is to allow commuters who are inconvenienced to reclaim compensation directly from the striking union.

Additional Information

If you can reclaim delay compensation from delays and cancelled rail and air services, why should you not be able to claim directly from the striking body.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We understand that you would like people to be able to claim compensation from unions for delays caused by strikes, however we are not exactly how you would like this to work.

In any case, we could not accept your petition as you have not given your name.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. This could, for example, ask for the law to be changed so that individuals could sue unions for damages causes by strike action.
