The government shouldn't alter the grants for low emission vehicles
From the 9th Nov the UK government will scrap the £2,500 subsidy for hybrid vehicles and reduce the grant for all electric vehicles from £4,500 to £3,500. This is at a time when air quality in many parts of the UK is very poor and the sale of petrol and electric vehicles has been banned from 2040.
There are simply not enough electric cars available to buy for reasonable prices to justify this change. The government should be doing more to incentivise manufacturers to bring pure electric vehicles to the market earlier instead of penalising consumers.
