Move the target deadline of the 2008 Climate Change Act forward from 2050
The recent IPCC publication on climate change invokes section 2, paragraph 2 part i of the 2008 Climate Change Act. Current scientific knowledge about climate change suggests that the target of 2050 needs bringing forward to stave off the worst of climate change for our children
The IPCC report suggests that the agreed 2 degree rise is potentially going to have too significant an impact on our environment and it needs discussion at a parliamentary level to consider the far reaching changes needed to prevent this.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take specific action.
We understand that you would like the 2050 target in the Climate Change Act brought forward, but we are not sure when you would like it brought forward too.
You could start a new petition setting out clearly what action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take.
