Immediately implement the policies detailed in the IPCC report SR15

Petition Details

The world is facing a climate crisis.
The IPCC report highlights the severe climate change impacts that could be avoided by limiting global warming to 1.5°C, but the time to act is rapidly closing.
This will require rapid, far-reaching and unprecedented changes in all aspects of society.

Additional Information

See the IPCC report, SR15, http://www.ipcc.ch/report/sr15/Global Warming of 1.5 °C
The UK government Committee on Climate Change monitors the UK's progress on reducing greenhouse gas emissions against its annual carbon targets. It reported that, whilst we have met/are due to meet our short terms targets, we are not going to meet our target for the period of 2023-27 and that it will require existing progress to be supplemented by more challenging measures.
The current proposal for the Committee to consult widely, with citizens, industry, business and academia and to deliver advice, expected within six months, to the government on how to respond to the IPCC report SR15 does not meet the urgency of the crisis.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

The IPCC report doesn't recommend a list of specific policies for Governments, we're therefore not exactly sure what policies you want the Government or Parliament to implement.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. If you want the Government to respond to the IPCC report by bringing in specific carbon-cutting policies, you may wish to sign this petition instead:
