Deter sale of plastic & styrofoam goods to alleviate environmental impacts
The world's oceans are accumulating large quantities of plastics and other waste that do not biodegrade quickly. This causes huge problems in the marine environment which eventually leads back to human consumption ultimately.
Ocean-cleaning strategies do not deal with the root of the problem.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take specific action.
We aren't sure what action you would like taken to deter the use of these plastics.
We have a number of petitions already open suggesting measures to reduce plastic use. For example, this one calls for a tax on single-use plastics:

You may wish to sign some of those petitions or you might like to start a new petition setting out clearly what action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take.
