We need to protect WORKING FAMILIES on UNIVERSAL CREDIT.
We need to protect WORKING families and their household income from the cuts they are facing when moving over to Universal Credit.
Under the current systems, an applicant doesn't need to change over to Universal Credit until there is a change in circumstances.
A move over to Universal Credit would mean cuts in housing support and childcare support amongst others. These are the two main needs in a household, not only to live but to work. The government set the rates for a family to live without financial worry and the government need to keep these rates in line with the move over to Universal Credit to prevent more poverty.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about the impact on working families of moving to Universal Credit but we are not sure exactly what you would like the UK Government or Parliament to do to protect them.
You could start a new petition setting out exactly what you would like the UK Government or Parliament to do. For example, you could start a new petition asking the Government to set universal credit rates so that no-one who is in work would be worse off than under the previous benefits system if that is something you would like too happen.
