Petition Action

Save Our Pubs, a British way of life being crippled by excessive taxes

Petition Details

It’s time to make a stand against successive governments taxing beer to the hilt, resulting in pubs all over the UK closing because people cannot afford to use them. It’s a traditional British way of life being crippled by greedy unimaginative chancellors looking to make any easy pound

Additional Information

On average 18 pubs per week are closing due to a “triple whammy” tax burden, rising business tax, increased VAT and beer duty being one of the highest across Europe

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you are concerned about the future of pubs and the taxes they face, but we are not sure exactly what action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take.

You could start a new petition calling on the Government to lower business taxes on pubs if that's something you'd like to see happen.
