Ban the production, importation, and distribution of single-use virgin plastic.
Annually, the UK is estimated to produce 3.7 million tonnes of plastic waste. Companies including Coca-Cola, Asda, Procter & Gamble and Marks & Spencer have vowed to cut plastic pollution but we need legislation to ensure these companies follow-up on their promises.
The importation, production, and distribution of virgin plastic destined for single-use in the UK should be completely banned and carry a large fine.
There should be tax breaks to encourage companies to divest from plastics made from non-renewable resources.
Financial incentives for those companies that keep on their current staff while divesting.
Single-use plastics destined for use in medical care should be exempt.
