Petition Action

Change the current UK Employment Rights and Pay for Interns.

Petition Details

The current outline of the Employment Rights and Pay for Interns allows companies to misclassify the role of an intern and subsequently not pay them for manual labour or tasks and hours that a permanent employee would undertake.

Additional Information

In many cases, there aren’t any government forms or compulsory paperwork that must be completed prior to an internship. This means that there is no classification of their role at the company - an employee, worker or volunteer - (as the government website states) therefore many people are embodying roles and completing jobs where they should be paid.
